Renewing Your Mind Daily
Renewing your mind in Christ is a daily battle. Each morning when we get up, we must put on the armor of God just as we would put on our clothes. You wouldn’t walk out of your home naked, so why walk out into the world spiritually naked?
There tend to be so many different questions floating around in my brain in the mornings. How will my day look? Will I experience this or that at work? The questions can be endless. But no matter what I experience in the upcoming day, God is with me. With God on my side, I can face whatever the day brings. But this requires a bit of mental maneuvering and shifting of negative thinking patterns. It is not so much about thinking positively. It is about thinking biblically. We have the mind of Christ as believers (1 Corinthians 2:16).
Many times we underestimate satan’s grip on the world. We underestimate his power. Satan is a real enemy that we must be aware of. The Bible says that we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against rulers and principalities of this dark world (Ephesians 6:12). Our fight is spiritual. Therefore, we cannot win a spiritual war with physical weapons. We have to utilize the weapons of our warfare, outlined in Ephesians 6:10-18: the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit.
Satan loves to attack the mind. If he can get in your mind, he can control you. But as Christians, it does not have to be this way. We can be transformed by the renewing of our minds every day. To renew our minds, we must replace it with the right things. The Word of God is #1 in our list of things to renew our minds with. What is outlined in Philippians 4:8-9 is our guide. Whatever is pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy…let us think about these things!
So how do you plan to renew your mind each day? I highly recommend doing this renewal process in the morning before starting your day. Pull out your Bible, and read and meditate on God’s Word. Let us never forget to renew our minds each day because this is when peace is found.
